(This stair-step card was inspired by Beth Rank's design.  I made just a couple of minor changes.)

I just love Halloween!!!  I'm the house with the bubble & fog machines at the front door and the "Welcome" mat that makes scary noises when you step on it.  All the neighborhood kids know that as far as I'm concerned there is no such a thing as being "too old" to trick-or-treat.  I don't even understand why the community has an age limit for trick-or-treaters.  If you are 13, 18, or even 35 years old, and you still think its fun to dress up and go out on Halloween, then its okay with me.  I also HATE when communities schedule trick-or-treating for the weekend before Halloween.  Sorry, but Halloween should be held on Halloween!!!


I've been having a lot of fun making treats with the freakin' cute supplies from Stampin' Up!  I think the kids are going to love them.  I have a variety of treats to hand out.  The better the costume, the better the candy!!!  For the most adorable kids & the most creative costumes, I have this great "Dizzy Pop".  The best part of this sucker is that it spins!!! 


I've seen these suckers at some stores for as much as $3.99 but I found them at the Dollar Tree for just $1.  I added a 2.3/8" scallop circle punched out of Wisteria Wonder card stock, stamped the cute little spider from the Googly Ghouls stamp set on a round label from the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit and adhered it with Stampin' Dimensionals foam dots.  I stamped BOOOO on Pumpkin Pie card stock and adhered it with foam dots.  The goggly eyes make it so cute I could scream!  

 The Petite Pocket Die makes a perfect pouch for Pixie Sticks or other stick candy.
I used Basic Black card stock to make the pocket & embossed it with the Spider Web embossing folder then wrapped it with Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper.

It's so quick & easy to wrap a piece of Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Series Paper around a box of Sugar Daddies then add the adorable mummy for a fun treat.

I love the Ghoulish Googlies Designer Kit & the Googly Ghouls stamp set for decorating treats!!!  The labels from the kit make the candy easy to decorate & the Googlies eyes add a really fun element.

I just love this silly little witch from Stampin' Up!'s "Googly Ghouls" stamp set.  We used her on this "Coffin" at our Halloween Themed stamp camp.  It's a pop-up box that holds Yummy Gummies Graveyard candy skeletons.  Too funny!

Don't you just love Halloween?!?!?!  I get so tickled seeing the little kids in their costumes. It brings back so many great memories of Trick-or-Treating when I was a kid.  Our town has a stupid rule about how old you can be to go out Trick-or-Treating, but the big "kids" know that  I'm a softy and that I'll give them candy, too!!!

Step-by-Step Directions

  • Pumpkin Pie Card Stock (CS) (7.5" x 10") 
    • The Pumpkin Pie CS box is so much easier to make when you use your Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score all of your folds.  Leave a comment for me and I'll be glad to email you a PDF of the template for the box.  
    • When you assemble the box you can use either Sticky Strip, or my favorite, TOMBOW Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue.
  • Line the box with a 2.75" x 4.25" piece of Perfect Plum polka-dots from the Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stacks/Subtle's Collection using Snail adhesive.
  • Use Staz-On Jet Black ink to stamp BOOOO on a scrap piece of Pumpkin Pie CS, flag the ends with paper snips, and adhere it to the polka dot paper with Snail adhesive.
  • Use the Scallop Edge Border Punch on the long edge of a 4.25" x 1" piece of Elegant Eggplant Card Stock.  Adhere this to the edge of flap as shown with your choice of adhesive.  
    • If your candy is bulky, you might want to put it in the box, close it up, then see how wide this piece needs to be to cover the space between the flaps and adjust the width as needed.
  • Place a 4.25" x 3.5" piece of Basic Black CS in the Spider Web Embossing Folder and run it through your Big Shot.  Cut this piece in half and adhere to both flaps on the sides as shown.
  • For the belly band take an 8.5" x 1" strip of Old Olive CS and loosely wrap it around the box.  It needs to be loose enough that you can slide it off once the box is filled with candy.  Use Sticky Strip to hold the band together.  I like to position the seam in the middle of the front of the box so it will be covered by the focal piece.  Place the belly band in the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder and run it through your Big Shot.  Use your paper snips to flag the ends.
  • Stamp the witch on Whisper White Card Stock using Staz-On Jet Black ink.  Be sure to ink your stamp up gently, if you press the stamp too firmly on the ink pad it will be too juicy and you won't get a sharp image.  Practice on your Grid Paper first.
  • Color the witch with your Stampin' Write Markers.  I used Certainly Celery for her face, Daffodil Delight for the hat buckle, Pumpkin Pie for the hat band, buttons & socks.
  • Punch out the witch with the 2.3/8" Scallop Circle punch.  I used the Paper-Piercing Tool and the Stampin' Pierce Mat to pierce holes in the center of each scallop.
  • Using the direct-to-paper method, use your Elegant Eggplant Classic Stampin' Pad around the edges of the scallop circle as shown.
  • Attach googly eyes to the witch.  I love Stampin' Up!'s Googlies googly eyes because they are adhesive-backed so they are so much easier to use!
  • Attach the scallop circle to the belly band using two Stampin' Dimensionals double-sided adhesive foam dots.
  • Fill the box with Yummy Gummies Graveyard candy skeletons or Skulls & Bones hard candy and hand out to your favorite trick-or-treaters!
